Here at Keys Garden we utilize several different growing systems including just plain soil. The microgreens are grown in a climate controlled room where everything else (edible flowers, vegetables, herbs and fruit) are grown outside.
One of the hydroponic systems we use are called Tower Gardens by Juice Plus. We also utilize homemade systems called wicking beds and just plain old soil bed gardens. Because we try to reuse as much water as possible, the hydroponic and wicking bed methods work best for us as the water stays contained in the unit for an extended period of time so we only need to refill once per week at most saving water, time and energy.
Prior to Hurricane Irma our gardens took up the entire property. Post Irma, we are rebuilding as quickly as possible and utilizing more vertical style gardening to increase yields so we can share with as many people as possible.
